Hmmmm?? My opinion to my father defending a colored man would be: Who cares!? Atticus is doing the right thing by defending Tom Robinson. That just shows how tough he is and how loyal and committed he is to doing what he does best. People make fun of me and Jem because Atticus is defending Tom. They call Atticus a "nigger" lover and all kinds of bad stuff. I think people who have a problem with it can just get over it, 'cus Atticus isn't giving up this trial just 'cus people have a problem with it! Matter-of-fact, Atticus is going to win the trial! He has the guts and ability to win.
Atticus, I guess, had an incident with a group of men. Jem called it an incident but I called it a group of men just talking. I saw the same group of men that came to our house that same day in the afternoon but then they were there at the jail with Atticus again. It was late so i couldn't see who was all there. I wanted to go see what the men and Atticus were talking about. Jem told me to stay there, but I just ran over toward them. When I get through, I give Atticus a hug and ask him what he is doing. He wouldn't answer. So, I turned around and saw all of the men looking at me. Then I recognize one face in the crowd and it's Mr. Cunningham. So I start talking to him and I become embarrassed because he's not responding back and it seemed like he didn't know me. He finally responds then he tells the men that it was time for them to leave. I think they were talking about something that wasn't as important as they were making it seem, but we finally just went home.
